Betty and her husband, Harry, were spectators during the first season of Rainbow but became enthusiastic supporters thereafter. Betty was a member of Rainbow for many years, serving on the Board, behind the scenes, and on stage. When Betty passed away in early December of 2000, Harry and the family requested that donations in her memory be made to Rainbow Youth Theatre. This generous bequest has allowed Rainbow to be able offer an annual bursary to assist a member graduating from high school to continue his or her education in the arts.
The bursary amount this year will be $250.00. The bursary in the future will be based on the interest generated by donations to date and subsequent contributions. A percentage of show profits are also to be earmarked yearly to the bursary.
Anyone wishing to donate to the Betty Dixon Bursary Fund may contact Laurel Hodgins at (250) 338-2216.
