Rainbow Youth Theatre (RYT) is a volunteer based community theatre group looking for a full-time Summer Theatre Stage Manager / Production Assistant, Summer Assistant, and a Musical Theatre Instructor / Assistant.
The Summer Theatre Stage Manager / Production Assistant (STSM/PA) is funded in part by the Federal Government’s Summer Student program and pays $13 per hour. The job is based on a flexible 35-hour work week and will run for approximately 12 weeks from mid May to mid August. This position is open to students who have graduated from high school and are now either registered to enter, or are currently enrolled in, post secondary education (preferably in the Performing Arts).
The Summer Assistant (SA) position is a contract position running for 8 weeks, starting mid June until the 1st week of August. Remuneration for this contract position is $3000.
Both RYT’s STSM/PA and SA will perform a wide variety of functions to help mount its 2017 theatre season. Primarily the positions will support the production teams, including the producers for 2 youth theatre shows that are already in pre-production. Some, but not all, of the duties will include: stage and technical work, promotional advertising assistance, parent and actor coordination, rehearsal facility coordination, trouble-shooting, sourcing and acquisition of theatre components, performance venue, and public event logistics. Work hours are flexible to accommodate weekend auditions and rehearsal schedules. Must have a driver’s license, your own vehicle, and laptop.
RYT’s STSM/PA and SA must be self motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently towards a successful 2017 RYT theatre season. You will be RYT’s ambassador to its extended family and fans throughout the Comox Valley.
The Musical Theatre Instructor / Assistant (MTI/A) position is to teach 6 – 12 year olds from 9am – 12:30pm, Monday to Friday, for the weeks of July 3rd, 10th, 17th, and Aug 7th and 14th. The workshops will be held in a large classroom at Mark R. Isfeld School. Participants will sign up for 1 week at a time with a minimum of 5 participants. Each week the MTI/A will teach drama games, scene work, improv games, singing, dancing, and 1 choreographed musical theatre performance for parents to view on Fridays at lunch. There will be no need for costuming, hair, or makeup. Remuneration for this contract position is $300.00 per week.
