Rainbow Youth Theatre (RYT) is a volunteer-based community theatre group looking for
- 1 full-time Summer Theatre Stage Manager (STSM)
- 1 full-time Production Assistant (PA)
- 2 Musical Theatre Instructors/Assistants (MTI/A)
The STSM and PA positions are funded in part by the Federal Government Summer Student program and pay $13 per hour for 240 hours.
The STSM job will run for approximately 12 weeks beginning in late May with varying hourly shifts resulting in 240 hours total. This position is open to students who have graduated from high school and are now either registered to enter, or are currently enrolled in, post-secondary education (preferably learning one of the Performing Arts).
The SA position is a contract position running 8 weeks, starting the last week of June until after the first week of August.
Both RYT’s STSM and PA will perform a wide variety of functions to help mount its 2018 Theatre Season. Primarily the positions will support the production teams, including the producers, for two youth theatre shows that are already in pre-production.
Some, but not all of the duties will include:
- stage and technical work
- promotional-advertising assistance
- parent and actor coordination
- rehearsal facility coordination
- sourcing and acquisition of theatre components
- performance venue and public event logistics, etc
Work hours are flexible to accommodate weekend auditions and rehearsal schedules. Must hvae a driver’s license, their own vehicle, and a laptop.
RYT’s STSM and PA must be self motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently towards a successful 2018 RYT theatre season. You will be RYT’s ambassador to its extended family throughout the Comox VAlley.
The MTI/A position is to teach 6-12 year olds from 9am-12:30pm, Monday to Friday, for the weeks of July 3rd, July 10, July 17 and Aug 14. The workshops will be held in a large classroom at Mark R. Isfeld School. Participants will sign up for 1 week at a time with a minimum of 5 participants. Each week the MTI/A will teach drama games, scene work, improv games, singing, dancing, and 1 choreographed musical theatre song. Each class will put on a performance for parents during lunchtime on the final day of the class. There will be no need for costuming, hair, or makeup. Remuneration for this contract position is $300.00 per week.
